Preface

This astronomy textbook is being designed for Web use to support an introductory-level, college astronomy course. We have a long way to go before it will have the interactivity expected of Web documents designed for educational purposes. However, at the present time, we do have a first draft of most of the words one normally finds in a printed textbook for this level of course. We are working on some reorganization and updating of the text and attempting to support the text at least with some illustrations.

If you are a student who would like to use text or if you are an instructor who would like to assign readings from the text, feel free to do so. However, if you want to distribute parts, we request that you preserve the coypright notice found at the bottom of each chapter with the distribution. We welcome comments and suggestions about improvement, as long as one does not expect instant response on our part.
