• Physics education research and more broadly STEM education reseach seeks to understand how students learn and improve the pedagogy and environment of learning for all students. It is also invested in developing pathways for preparing students for whatever comes next. In this context I am working on a range of projects that include transforming the pedagogical approaches used in large, gateway STEM courses to developing pathways for students to pursue the new opportunities that are developing in quantum information science and engineering. With these efforts I am very interested in examining how we create opportunities and environments inside and outside of the classroom that engage a diverse group of students so that we can work to broaden participation in these areas of study.
