1. From the menus accross the top of the Starry Night Window (see graphic below), open the "Window" menu and choose "Display"
2. This should open a small window which looks like
The window has a list of features to be display. Clicking on the grey tab where text is displayed, for example the grey tab labeled "Constel...", to cycle the constellation names on or off.
3. Next, click on the grey tab labeled "Stars" to toggle the display of stars. You may want to have the names of the stars displayed ina larger font. You can change the font size by clicking on the blackbutton next to the grey tabs for each item such as stars or constellationsand filling out the Options window displayed below. The settings belowwill display the star names in size 14 font when the "Apply" button is clicked.
4. Make sure you have set your viewing location to the Washington DC area. This can be done by opening the "Settings" menu and choosing"Viewing location...".
5. Try looking in different directions in the sky. This can be done by clicking on the N, S, E, W buttons just under the menus across the top of the Starry Night Window.
6. Finally, set the sky in motion by pushing on the play button on the controls window. It looks just like the Play button on a VCR, tape player, or CD player.
7. Experiment with everything and see what new insights you have. Make sure you're familiar with the constellations of the northern hemisphere and the brightest star in each constellation.
